Tasting Notes for thomas h handy sazerac straight rye whiskey
Powerful, lush, and boldly spicy. Flavors of toffee, fig cake, and candied fruit, followed by mint, cinnamon and clove. The finish ultimately reveals subtle notes of allspice, coconut and nutmeg. Long and warm.

Finish :
The earthiness and oak continue from the palate along with some white pepper, more vanilla, toffee, and dark chocolate are among the last notes to fade. The finish is a bit on the short side and that’s just about the only knock I have on this pour. There’s so little heat here that I’d be hard pressed to believe this was over 120 proof if I didn’t know any better.
Palate:
The star anise from the nose is much more present on the palate. As the anise mixes with cinnamon and cocoa, it reminds me of Mexican hot chocolate. On the other hand, there is a touch of crème brulee. The mouthfeel is oily. In spite of the dessert-like qualities, the finish is quite earthy.
